Bielsa’s translator announces exit

Many supporters, especially neutrals, will have become accustomed to seeing Andres Clavijo sat, or stood, next to Marcelo Bielsa during his time as Leeds manager.

He was chiefly known as the Argentine’s translator when he spoke to the media but he was also one of the club’s first-team performance analysts.

Clavijo announced on Wednesday that he is part of Bielsa’s staff that has left the club following the mutually agreed departure of the 66-year-old.

On his Instagram,, Clavijo wrote: “Thank you for the overwhelming messages of support," Clavijo said on Instagram.

"I am sad to report that I too will be leaving the club alongside Marcelo and the rest of his staff. It has been an incredible two years at the club.

"I was treated as one of your own from the first moment, and I am immensely grateful for that. The club and the fans will forever hold a special place in my heart.

"Thank you to all the staff, players, and fans for some unforgettable memories."

Maddison admits Leicester ‘unfortunate’ to be Marsch’s first opponents

The first test of Marsch’s time at the club comes at King Power Stadium on Saturday as he and his new side face Leicester in the early kick-off.

The Foxes were able to do Leeds a favour on Tuesday evening by beating fellow relegation strugglers Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor in what was just their third away victory of the season.

James Maddison opened the scoring in the 82 nd minute after being introduced from the bench and after the game he fielded a question about this weekend’s match.

"Leeds is always an interesting game because of their unique style of play under Marcelo Bielsa,” he told LCFC TV.

"So, it will be interesting to see what type of football the new manager is going to play. We're unfortunate that we're their first game where we're going to go in fairly blind.

"It's still going to be played on grass with two goals at each side, so we'll be looking to go and get three points at home in a game like that, definitely."

Romano delivers Marsch verdict

The appointment to bring Marsch to the club in order to replace Bielsa is one that continues to be questioned due to the American’s brief top-level experience.

His most recent spell at RB Leipzig, where he lasted less than six months, has left Leeds fans slightly worried at whether he is the right profile of coach to turn the tide at Elland Road.

Highly-trusted European journalist Fabrizio Romano has spoken about what he has been told about the 48-year-old as he spoke on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel.

He said: “He’s the manager they had in the list for a long time. I have had very different positions when I ask about him.

“A lot of people appreciate him and his relationships with his players, they think it wasn’t easy for him to join Leipzig and they were disappointed with what happened at Leipzig.

“From Salzburg, he was doing a great job with his players and his system, he needs time, and this is why I’m worried for Leeds because it’s not easy to give time to an American manager coming for the first time in the Premier League.

“It’s about how much time he’ll have to show his ideas and skills as a manager. But at the same point, from the players’ side, I have very good feedback on Marsch, they love his approach, love his ideas and love his methods.

“It’s more about the club, they need to back him, to support him and give him time to show his ideas.”
