Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Tuesday, August 6.

Blackburn boss addresses Brereton-Diaz case

Blackburn manager Jon Dahl Tomasson insists that there was 'no opportunity' for Ben Brereton-Diaz to leave Ewood Park during the summer transfer window.

Leeds were among a number of clubs interested in the Chilean international along with Everton and Fulham.

Tomasson told the Lancashire Telegraph: "After the game against Blackpool I brought him home, closed the door and he wasn't allowed to leave the house. There was no opportunity for him to go away."

Brereton-Diaz has started the season in impressive fashion - scoring four goals in nine appearances, after netting a career-high 22 times last term.

Marsch charged by FA

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has been charged by the Football Association for his behaviour that led to his dismissal during the Whites' 5-2 defeat against Brentford on Saturday.

The incident occurred in the 64th minute when Crysencio Summerville was hauled down by Brentford defender Jordan Hickey. Referee Rob Jones overlooked Leeds' penalty claim and Marsch left his technical area to protest his case.

Jones subsequently stopped play and brandished a red card to Marsch, who will miss next Monday's fixture against Nottingham Forest at Elland Road.

It's the first time the 43-year-old has taken charge of a Whites' game this season with his last fixture coming in the 2021/22 campaign against Chelsea.

The Blues ran out 3-0 winners that day with Daniel James picking up a red card, leaving Jesse Marsch two games to save Leeds' Premier League status. The rest is of course history and the Whites have made a solid enough start to the current campaign.
