AC Milan ‘set’ to finalise de Ketelaere deal
Paolo Maldini and Daniele Massaro will fly to Belgium on Wednesday to submit a new official proposal and finalise the signing of Club Brugge attacker Charles de Ketelaere, says Fabrizio Romano, who claims the player has already agreed personal terms with the Italian giants.
AC Milan had previously offered just over £25.4 million for the Belgian international, with Club Brugge keen to get £29.6 million.
Sky Sports Italy claim that Milan’s offer is expected to rise to €35 million in order to get the deal over the line. Victor Orta has turned his attention elsewhere after Leeds' club record bid of £31.5 million was rejected by Club Brugge.

Forshaw relishes competition
Adam Forshaw knows he has a fight on his hands if he is to nail down a spot in Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United side this season. The club has added talent and depth to their midfield during the summer transfer window with the signings of Tyler Adams, Marc Roca and Darko Gyabi.
Forshaw is expected to battle for a spot in the heart of midfield with Marsch’s three new recruits. The 30-year-old is back to full fitness after fracturing his kneecap in April, just before last season’s gruelling Premier League run-in started to gather pace.
“You have your own drive and you want to play games anyway, but competition is healthy and it will bring the best out of people,” Forshaw said while on the club’s tour of Australia.
“We’re going to have a bigger squad this season, already we can see that. I think the manager will rotate a little bit more but it’s up to everyone to try and make themselves a mainstay in the team. Ultimately, we all have the same goal.”

James optimistic ahead of new Marsch era
Four wins from Jesse Marsch’s 12 Leeds United matches and a final day escape underlined the struggles he faced. Time on the training field was at a premium for the American but this summer has provided that time and space to work with the squad, especially in Australia.
Daniel James is one of those who has been relishing the chance to iron out any of the kinks they found in switching from Marcelo Bielsa’s system to Marsch’s.
“The manager came in towards the end of the season,” he said. “The transition’s always hard going from one manager to another, especially in the middle of the season to get their point across.
“We did really well considering the time of the year, so this next five weeks is about nailing down this new system we have, listening to the manager and the coaches on what he wants from each individual player. We’ve made some great additions to the squad, which is always great and just looking forward to it now.”
