Leeds United need to maintain transfer momentum ahead of another key window

As is often the case in the Premier League, Leeds United's upcoming January transfer window is the most important since... well, the last one.

After last season's final-day escape act, there were no less than six new first-team signings in the summer, albeit at the cost of losing perhaps the club's two best players when Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha flew the nest for Europe's elite.

The early signs from the summer 2022 window are positive, with the likes of Tyler Adams, Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca and Rasmus Kristensen all establishing themselves in the Leeds United first-team, Luis Sinisterra looked to have game-changing talent before injury struck, while Wilfried Gnonto has forced his way into Jesse Marsch's reckoning, ahead of schedule.

But while the summer saw the club add depth to their squad in several key areas, gaps in the squad remain. Injuries have again limited Junior Firpo's impact this season and further left-back depth would free up Pascal Struijk to return to his natural centre-back position - another area of concern at times this term.

Striker is another position that Leeds need to address following a number of unsuccessful pursuits in the summer and Patrick Bamford's lingering injury concerns. Historically, Leeds rarely do much business in the January window, but last season's close shave with relegation, some glaring gaps in the squad and the shadow of a potential full takeover looming, there is a strong argument to say this time could be different.

But what do you think? As part of our ongoing Big Leeds United Forum series we're asking for your verdict on Leeds' recent transfer dealings and what they have to do once the window opens in January.
