Leeds United make Amari Miller their first signing of the summer transfer window

Leeds United have clinched their first signing of the summer transfer window with the arrival of 18-year-old Amari Miller.

The Whites have paid an undisclosed fee to Birmingham City for the winger, who broke into the first team of the Championship club before the end of last term.

The teenager made five appearances, including two starts, for former United midfielder Lee Bowyer with the St Andrews outfit.

Miller was a second-year scholar last term and had been offered professional terms by Bowyer heading into the summer, but rejected their offer and looked to West Yorkshire.

Victor Orta has agreed a four-year deal with the youth, who will initially play for Mark Jackson’s under-23 side in Premier League 2 Division One.

Speaking of Miller after giving him chances with Birmingham, Bowyer said: “Goals, assists, pace, something that we probably lack a bit is pace.

“He’s at that age where he is fearless. When he came on against Stoke, he got himself into an area and wasn’t afraid to go at the defender.

“I think he will be a good player. He just needs to keep working hard. Hopefully, this taste that he’s having will drive him on for next season. Maybe he will play again this season.

“I like him as a person, his manners and he’s respectful. The senior players love him as well.

“He’s going to make mistakes, but he keeps going. He’s fitted into the group well.”
