Leeds United could become just fourth side to be relegated from the Premier League after spending less than 30 days in the bottom three. If the Whites are to go down on Sunday, they will have spent just 26 days in the relegation zone, which has happened only three times in Premier League history.
In the 1996/97 campaign, Sunderland were relegated after just 18 days in the drop zone, before three seasons later AFC Wimbledon then suffered the same fate despite spending just eight days in the bottom three. The third and most recent side to do it was Ian Holloway’s Blackpool in 2010/11 – having spent 22 days in the relegation zone.
Leeds moved in the bottom three for the first time since October following their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal two weeks ago. Jesse Marsch’s will be looking to avoid joining this unwanted group of teams this weekend as the Premier League gets set for its season finale.

The Whites make the trip to Brentford currently sitting in the bottom three on goal difference after Burnley’s 1-1 draw at Aston Villa on Thursday. They know that in order to maintain their top-flight status, they will have to better Burnley’s result at the weekend, with the Clarets hosting Newcastle United – who have been one of the league’s most in form teams in the calendar year of 2022.
Leeds will have to do something they have not done since the 1950s, and that is win away at Brentford. This fixture, however, will be the first visit to their new stadium, which was opened at the beginning of last season.
