Charlie Cresswell was announced as a Millwall player for the 2022/23 season as the Leeds United centre-back completed a loan move to the Championship. The young defender made it clear that he was seeking more regular football next season, meaning that this was a move that would suit all parties and Millwall's manager Gary Rowett has spoken effusively about Cresswell.
"He's got so much potential as a player," Rowett told Millwall's website. "We've seen that playing for Leeds and England's Under 21s as well. He's very highly regarded. Charlie is a ball-playing centre-half - he can go and do all the aggressive things you need him to do, but can also step out with quality and composure."
Rowett also mentioned that he knew Cresswell's father, Richard, who also played for Leeds, as well as several other EFL clubs during his time as a professional.

"Charlie is coming from a good family. I played with his Dad for two years, so I know he has good work ethic. He will provide brilliant competition for those defensive positions and will be very determined to get in the team and stay in the team.
"His signing is a really exciting one for us and is a quality addition to a squad which is shaping up quite nicely."
