Leeds United loanee Diego Llorente suffers injury on his full AS Roma debut

Diego Llorente was substituted at half-time with a thigh injury after making his first start in AS Roma's 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad in the Europa League Round of 16 first leg. The Leeds United loanee had only previously played one-minute from the bench for Roma, but replaced Roger Ibanez in the starting XI on Thursday evening.

He enjoyed a relatively quiet evening against his former employers Sociedad, although he did allow Take Kubo to creep in behind and crash the ball against the post after being tempted out of position.

However, Llorente didn't reappear from the tunnel at the start of the second half, and according to Sky Sports Italia [as relayed by Roma Press], the Spain international was experiencing an issue with his thigh muscle.

Llorente will undergo more tests in the coming days to determine the severity of the injury. If the injury proves to be serious then it will be a major setback for the defender, who has struggled for game time since trading Leeds for Rome on loan during the January transfer window.

Roma prevailed 2-0 on the night with Stephan El Shaaraway providing the deadlock breaking strike after Tammy Abraham squared it for the Italian to tap home inside 13 minutes.

Marash Kumbulla, who replaced Llorente at the break, added a second in the 87th minute, as Roma head into the second leg in Spain with a 2-0 advantage.
