Leeds United join Arsenal in Djed Spence 'enquiry' as Nottingham Forest future claim made

Leeds United have reportedly joined Arsenal in "enquiring after" Nottingham Forest loanee Djed Spence this winter transfer window.

The Middlesbrough man has hit the headlines in recent weeks after putting in a starring performance at right-wing-back to knock the north London side out of the FA Cup in the third round at the City Ground.

Unsurprisingly, after witnessing the 21-year-old's talents first-hand, Mikel Arteta's side are apparently 'eyeing' a January move.

Reports on Sunday also added that fellow Premier League side Southampton are said to have "been keeping tabs" on Spence as well as Italian side Roma, managed by Jose Mourinho, and Serie A league leaders Inter Milan who are apparently "watching developments closely".

Interest from Marcelo Bielsa's side is a more recent development as Sky Sports report, but the player would not be able to assist in the immediate term and help Leeds continue their survival bid that was bolstered with a 3-2 win against West Ham United on Sunday.

That is because Spence made four appearances for parent club Middlesbrough last August at the start of the current 2021/22 season.

Therefore, having also turned out almost 20 times for Steve Cooper 's side since arriving on transfer deadline day at the end of that month, the wide man would not be able to turn out for a third side in the current campaign.

As a result, the report also claims that 'a ny potential deal would see Spence remain at Forest for the remainder of the campaign'.

The wing-back has played every minute that he has been available for since Cooper came through the doors at Forest.

In fact, the only time on the pitch Spence missed out on was when ineligible to feature during the 2-0 defeat against parent club Boro on Boxing Day.
