Leeds United injury update provided as Nottingham Forest relegation rivals face Newcastle United

Leeds United manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that his side will be without four players for the Premier League clash against Newcastle United - a game which could have an impact on Nottingham Forest.

The Whites host Eddie Howe’s men at Elland Road in Saturday’s early kick-off (12.30pm), just a few hours before Forest take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (3pm kick-off).

Steve Cooper ’s side currently sit in 16th place in the Premier League, three points above Leeds (19th) and Leicester City (18th) and one point above Everton (17th). All three do, however, have a better goal difference than the Reds, something which could have an impact on the final table.

Ahead of the game against Newcastle, Allardyce has provided the latest fitness update on his squad. “Before we even start let's get injuries out the way,” he said in his pre-match press conference (via LeedsLive ).

“Liam Cooper, Stuart Dallas, Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra. That's not bad! Just four."

The manager did, though, seem optimistic that club captain Cooper will be available for next week’s clash against West Ham United. He added on the defender: “We think so. Next week, I think we've got to keep everybody fit if we possibly can.

“The squad in general at Leeds is light in numbers so we have to be careful not to pick up too many injuries otherwise it does deplete the squad. What's even more important today than ever, is having five quality subs. The best you can possibly get because you need to use them when you need to.”

While there is hope that Cooper will be back before the end of the season, Allardyce did confirm that midfielder Tyler Adams is expected to miss the remaining games.

"Not at all," the Whites boss said when asked about a possible return for the American. "Not what I believe no, sadly."
