The Premier League season has not even started yet but injuries are already beginning to pile up for Leeds United. The Whites lost two first-team players in their most recent pre-season friendly, taking their list of absentees up to six.
Leeds’ season opener with Wolves is now less than two weeks away and Jesse Marsch will desperate to avoid losing any more key players given the problems that were faced last term. So with that in mind, here is a look at each of the players currently in the treatment room at Thorp Arch.
Luis Sinisterra – hamstring
Luis Sinisterra limped out of his first Leeds start after less than 15 minutes against Crystal Palace. Worryingly, the Colombian left the pitch clutching his hamstring, though Marsch revealed after the match he is hopeful it is not serious.

What Marsch said (July 22): “Luis had a little hamstring injury. We’re hopeful it’s not too much or too long or too severe. Any time we have a hamstring injury, I’m totally dissatisfied because that’s reflective of everything we do with them physically.”
Potential return date: Unknown
Adam Forshaw - knee
Like Sinisterra, Adam Forshaw was withdrawn in the first half against Crystal Palace following a heavy challenge from Jean-Philippe Mateta. Again, Marsch does not think it is too serious.
What Marsch said (July 22): “Tweaked his knee. We’re hopeful as well this one’s not so bad, but we’ll get more information on it in the next days.”
Potential return date: Unknown
Liam Cooper - achilles
Despite travelling to Australia, Liam Cooper did not feature in any of the Whites' pre-season fixtures. Cooper's injury isn't serious, and he does hope to be fit for the start of the Premier League season.
What Marsch said (July 20): “Liam is still nursing his achilles issue, which of all things he picked up in training in the offseason on a treadmill. So it’s been about a month now, and haven’t really been able to get him going. We’re hopeful that in the next days, we can get him more and more on the pitch.”
Potential return date: Unknown
Junior Firpo – knee
The frustrations of Junior Firpo’s Leeds career continued in the first game of pre-season as he picked up a knee injury against Blackpool. Marsch confirmed the left back is set to miss eight weeks, but is hoping he can recover quicker.
What Marsch said (July 13): “He’s most likely out for eight weeks. We’re hopeful it’s a little bit faster as he healed really quickly after his last injury.”
Potential return date: 03/09/22
Cody Drameh – hamstring
Cody Drameh missed the game against Palace due to a hamstring injury, that Marsch believes is only minor. Given the Leeds boss was hopeful he would make that match indicates he won’t be out for too long.
What Marsch said (July 20): “Cody has a little bit of a hamstring strain but nothing I don’t think that is too drastic. Hopefully, he will be available for tomorrow and Friday.”
Potential return date: 06/08/22
Luke Ayling – knee
Luke Ayling underwent surgery on his knee prior to the final game of last season to overcome an issue that he had been nursing during the season. He could be set to return to training next month.
What Marsch said (July 13): “He won’t be ready for the first match but he’s ahead of schedule, so there’s a high possibility he can be training in August. I don’t want to be too optimistic, but that’s where we’re at.”
Potential return date: 03/09/22
Stuart Dallas – leg
Stuart Dallas remains on crutches following the femoral fracture he suffered against Manchester City in April. When he will return at this stage remains unclear.
What Marsch said (May 6): “I think we can safely say it’ll be six months but it could be longer and I don’t think anyone wants to rush him.”
Potential return date: Unknown
