Leeds United injury list in full as Jesse Marsch ponders Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper recalls

Leeds United return to action once more this weekend, as they face Bruno Lage's Wolves side at Molineux on Friday evening. The Whites will be looking to make it two wins from two following the dramatic 2-1 win against Norwich City last time out, but still have injury concerns to contend with.

Leeds current sit 16th in the league table, four points above the relegation places. With only nine games left to go, new boss Jesse Marsch will once again look for a reaction from his players, as their Premier League fate still firmly hangs in the balance.

With the Whites struggling at times this season due to large numbers of the first time squad ruled out through injury, it has been a testing campaign for all on-watching Leeds supporters. Here, we have compiled a comprehensive look at the sides current injury list ahead of Friday's clash.

Junio Firpo

Junior Firpo was unfortunately stretchered off late on against Aston Villa on March 10 and with the club confirming he has sustained a MCL knee injury. With his return date not confirmed, there is positivity that it is not as serious as first thought however and he should return next month.

Potential return date: April

What Marsch has said [17 March]: "They think [it's] not so bad - a lighter grade two.Three to five weeks from the date of injury.''

Joe Gelhardt

Last-minute teenage hero Joe Gelhardt is perhaps a doubt after his heroics at Elland Road last weekend, picking up a slight back injury. Having now found the net twice this season for the Whites, it has been a season to remember for the former Wigan man.

Potential return date: 18/03/22

What Marsch has said [17 March]: "Joffy has a little bit of a back issue. That's why he didn't play the 23s game. And we think that he'll be ready for the match, but we're not totally certain."

Rodrigo

Elsewhere, goalscorer of Leeds first last weekend Rodrigo is also facing problems of his own ahead of the clash with Wolves. The 31-year-old left the field in the second-half on Sunday but it is hoped he will be available.

Potential return date: 18/03/22

What Marsch has said [17 March]: "Rodrigo I think he will train today and we're hopeful everything is ready to go. It seems he has a little bit of an old injury and it's just about managing the symptoms."

Leo Hjelde

Having most recently undergone knee surgery for the injury, he sustained at the turn of the year, but defender Leo Hjelde could perhaps return to the first-team fold sooner rather than later. The Norway U18 international has impressed since his FA Cup debut in January.

Potential return date: 24/04/22

What Marsch has said [17 March]: "We think next week Leo might actually be back in training, which is good news for us, it's important to have another option."

Tyler Roberts

With the club confirming just last week that Tyler Roberts had successfully also gone under the needle with knee surgery, it looks like that the forward will return next season. With only two months left of the season, Roberts will be hoping he be once again be playing Premier League football upon his return.

Potential return date: Pre-season

Patrick Bamford

With last seasons top-scorer Patrick Bamford missing almost all of the 21/22 campaign, it was great to see the forward return to the field last weekend against the Canaries. Bamford is now back within the fold and will look to kick on in aiding the Whites remain in the Premier League this season.

What Marsch has said [17 March]: "I think he was a little sore and physically the game was very demanding," said Marsch. "So I think it was physically - and not just with the injury - but his entire body continuing to adjust to what the demands are going to be for these upcoming games, but he seems to come out of it in a good way and he should be ready for tomorrow."

Kalvin Phillips

Midfielder Kalvin Phillips look set to finally return to the Leeds starting XI ahead of the crucial clash at Molineux too. The England international has also spent a lengthy spell on the sidelines this season and will be a welcome sight for Whites fan watching on tomorrow evening.

Potential return: 18/03/22

What Marsch has said [17 March]: ''Liam and Kalvin are fully in training and eligible for this weekend," said Marsch. "It's a positive momentum swing for us as a group.''

Liam Cooper

Stalwart defender Liam Cooper also looks set to return, with key players returning at a crucial time for the Whites. Cooper has also had heavy injury problems this season, with Marsch happy to see the local lad return.

Jamie Shackleton and Lewis Bate

Marsch confirmed that the midfield pair both suffered injuries in Tuesday night's under-23s match.

Potential return: 02/04/22

What Marsch has said [17 March]: "Lewis Bate and Jamie Shackleton both picked up injuries in that match so they might not be available".
