Leeds United injury list and return dates as Whites feel benefit of pre-Aston Villa break

Leeds United will be hosting Aston Villa this weekend at Elland Road but both sides will have key players carrying a few knocks and bumps.

The month-long gap in between Leeds' last fixture and this one has allowed for certain players' injuries to heal and for them to work on returning to full fitness and Jesse Marsch's side could return to winning ways on Sunday with those players coming back.

Here is the full list of injuries that Leeds are currently soldiering and when they could possibly return to action.

Rodrigo - Available

Rodrigo suffered a dislocated shoulder in Leeds' 1-1 draw against Everton which fans will hope won't have derailed his great start to the season after he netted four goals and grabbed an assists in the first five games.

Marsch gave a very positive update that will relieve fans in his pre-match press conference earlier today though.

Marsch said (Sept 30): "We feel like he's fit, he's strong and he's ready to go. He's trained really well this week. He's 100% as close to being fit as I think I've seen him and I think he can be in this situation. We don't have a lot of concerns on that level.

"So we believe that first of all, Rodri is a strong man, his upper body very strong and that can be helpful for him. He's done a lot of the right rehab. We've been patient with him and we've been allowed to be patient because of the situation."

Likely return date: 02/10/2022

Patrick Bamford- Available

Patrick Bamford had an injury-ridden campaign last year that heavily derailed Leeds' performance over the course of the season but as this season has ramped up, he's gotten back to full fitness and should return to his former minutes in the imminent future.

Marsch said (Sept 30): "With Patrick it’s always been about trying to manage him so that we're pushing him fitness-wise and that he's sharp and playing at a high level and then also with being careful to not push him too hard and risk him getting other little injuries and little niggling injuries.

"I think we've managed it well, but it's a little bit of a balancing act with him. He's massively important for us. So obviously in the Premier League goals are at a premium and I think we will we will need him and we will need him to be at his best."

Likely return date: 02/10/2022

Junior Firpo- Available

Firpo suffered a knee injury in July's 4-0 pre-season win against Blackpool, with Pascal Struijk having filled in at left-back while the Dominican was injured. However, he returned to training at the start of August and has been getting back to full fitness since.

Marsch said (Sept 30): "Junior, I think he's gotten more and more fit and healthy and ready to contribute so I think that's a big boost."

Potential return date : 02/10/2022

Archie Gray - Toe

The youngest player in the Leeds squad, 16-year-old Archie Gray suffered a strange injury that'll keep him out of Jesse Marsch's plans for at least a couple more weeks.

Marsch said (Sept 30): "Archie Gray had an incident at home where he stubbed his toe and he fractured a little bit of his big toe. He’s been out of training for two weeks and he’ll be out probably for another two weeks."

Potential return date: 15/10/2022

Adam Forshaw - Ankle

Adam Forshaw has had a sad history of injuries during his time at Elland Road and sadly this season hasn't been injury-free. He's only played 78 games over the last five years at Leeds and will be missing this weekend's fixture as well.

Marsch said (Sept 30): "Adam Forshaw twisted his ankle this week. It’s not so bad but he won’t be available this weekend. Other than that every single player is available for us so we’re feeling like we’re getting to full strength."

Potential return date: 08/10/2022

Stuart Dallas - Leg

Stuart Dallas suffered a fractured femur after a 50/50 challenge with Manchester City winger Jack Grealish back in April's 4-0 loss and was originally ruled out for six months.

Marsch said (Sept 30): “Stuart is making a really good recovery. He went down to see a specialist and they feel like he is doing really well and he’s on track. Obviously it will still be some time for him."

Potential return date : Unknown
