Leeds United headlines with Tyler Roberts praised on QPR debut and Jesse Marsch criticism

Here are the latest Leeds United headlines for Wednesday, August 10.

Roberts praised by boss on QPR debut

QPR head coach Michael Beale has praised Tyler Roberts after the Leeds loanee scored on his debut for the London club.

Roberts replaced Ilias Chair as a 60th minute substitute in a Carabao Cup first round game at Charlton, and Roberts opened his account for his new club 20 minutes later, firing a shot into the roof of the net from outside the box. A 90th minute equaliser sent the game to penalties, where Roberts scored his spot-kick, but Charlton won the shootout 5-3.

"Tyler scored a very, very good goal," Beale told QPR's media team.

"It's long overdue for him to play. He's been showing it in training but he's got to pick up on his fitness. He was allowed to play for 30 minutes tonight and he obviously scored a very, very good goal.

"It looked like it was going to win us the game until the last couple of minutes. It's a great strike from the lad."

Pundit critical of Jesse Marsch

Former Leeds United midfielder Carlton Palmer says he's not been 'impressed' by Jesse Marsch since he took over as Whites head coach.

Marsch steered the Whites to safety last season after he was drafted in to replace the popular Marcelo Bielsa in February. The American kept Leeds in the Premier League in dramatic fashion with a 2-1 win at Brentford on the final day of the season, but Palmer says simply staying in the top flight this time around is 'not good enough'.

"I've not been overly impressed with him," former England international Palmer said on talkSPORT.
