Leeds United headlines as the Whites look set to swoop in for Raphinha and Phillips replacements

Your Leeds United morning headlines for Sunday, June 26.

Leeds in pursuit of Manchester City youngster

Leeds United have been strongly linked with Manchester City's young midfielder, Darko Gyabi, in recent days. The 18-year-old, who would cost in the region of £5 million, helped Manchester City's U23s win the Premier League 2 title in the last campaign.

As an England youth player, he has also attracted the attention of other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Wolves. A deal is rumoured to be close, with Gyabi set to link up with his new teammates just before they head off to the USA for a pre-season training camp.

Tyler Adams to be Phillips replacement?

The Whites have also been rumoured to be targeting RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams as a potential replacement for the seemingly outgoing Kalvin Phillips. The American midfielder has worked with manager Jesse Marsch both at New York Red Bulls and Leipzig, and would therefore appear to be the ideal candidate to fill that midfield role.

Adams has been as US international since 2017, and is highly regarded in Germany, especially after scoring the winning goal for Leipzig in the Champions League quarter-finals in 2020, knocking out Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

Paul Robinson underwhelmed by Marc Roca

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson has expressed his concern of the signing of Marc Roca from Bayern Munich. In a recent interview, Robinson stated that: "He's not proven himself at Bayern Munich, which is why he's had to move on."

Robinson added: "It's signing a potentially good player. It's not signing a player that's been playing week in and week out in the Bundesliga." He went on to add that he didn't see Roca as a good enough replacement to cover the possible departures of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips.
