Leeds United news as reports emerge claiming Jack Harrison is close to signing new Whites deal

Here are your Leeds United headlines on Tuesday, December 13.

Jack Harrison reportedly close to signing new Leeds United contract ahead of January transfer window

Leeds United are said to be confident that winger Jack Harrison will sign a new deal at Elland Road in the coming weeks, according to reports.

The 26-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United in the summer, with Leeds quoting the Magpies a fee of £35m for his services.

However, after losing key players Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha to Manchester City and Barcelona respectively, Leeds were in no mood to lose Harrison during the last transfer window.

And while he has not been at his best this term, Harrison, who has 18-months left on his current contract, could be tied down to a new deal in an effort to deter any January interest in the winger.

According to transfer journalist Dean Jones, Leeds are confident Harrison will sign a new deal at Elland Road in the near future.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I’ve checked this out and sources close to it are saying that Leeds are confident that he will sign that new contract soon."

Unseen Leeds United boon could have paved the way for the biggest plus of mid-season break

Headlines may have been claimed by Mateusz Klich in a victorious Leeds United friendly over Elche which failed to inspire much in 90 minutes, but Jesse Marsch has shone a light on another department too.

While the head coach accepted there was a lot more work to do in the two-plus weeks before Premier League football returns, he found some solace in the way the youngsters have performed and not only in Spain.

On the Friday before the team flew out to Valencia, they played behind closed doors against Preston North End. The Whites won the match and Marsch said youngsters like Mateo Joseph, Darko Gyabi, Sonny Perkins and Cody Drameh caught the eye as they did on the continent.

"We have work to do and getting some of our guys back and getting certain guys healthy," said Marsch after the 2-1 Elche win.

"That will be important, but a lot of the young guys are performing well and certainly the guys that came on in the second half."

Rodrigo points fingers at Leeds United problems dressing room is cracking down on

Errors need to be cut out by a Leeds United team conceding too many goals, but not only in defence and goalkeeper.

Rodrigo, who has contributed more goals than anyone to the Whites’ cause this term, places those concessions at his feet and the midfielders’ too.

Only Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Ivan Toney have scored more in the Premier League than Rodrigo this season. United’s 15th-place position would be a hefty sight worse without his penalty-box finishing.

The Spain international’s two strikes against Tottenham Hotspur, in the club’s last competitive fixture, followed by a capitulation from 3-2 to 4-3 down sum up the problems being addressed. Rodrigo, not selected for World Cup duty, has not missed a beat of Jesse Marsch’s mid-season programme up to now.

"Maybe we are conceding too many goals, but this is not a question about defenders or the keeper," said Rodrigo.

"It’s about the whole team because we all defend, we all attack and so we have to try to see these kinds of errors we are all making and try to correct them for the next part of the season."
