Gerrard and Price reunited
Steven Gerrard reserved a very warm welcome for Rob Price when he arrived at the dugouts before the match.
Leeds United’s head of medicine and performance was in the medical department at Liverpool when Gerrard was a player there.
The Aston Villa boss and his assistant Gary McAllister had warmly greeted Jamie Shackleton and Adam Forshaw immediately before, but it was Price who shared a few words and an embrace with Gerrard.
Raphinha and Rodrigo’s inquest
In the aftermath of the Villa equaliser, the Brazilian-born pair of Rodrigo and Raphinha could be seen thrashing out their grievances on the halfway line.
The former was offering open arms of explanation and the latter was shaking his head.
Buendia’s boot boo-boo
After a perfectly fair and firm challenge from Pascal Struijk on Emi Buendia, which saw the Argentine’s boot fly off, he hit the deck.
As Struijk strolled away with another solid challenge under his belt he could hear Buendia moaning and gesticulating from the turf for some protection from the referee.
Struijk waved his hand, urged Buendia to stop his moaning and get on with the game.
Leeds fans turn on the TV studio
During one of the many stoppages in the second half of Wednesday’s match, the Leeds support found something to keep themselves entertained.
BT Sport’s studio for their live broadcast on the night was stationed between the top and bottom tiers in the away corner.
Rio Ferdinand and Joe Cole were on pundit duty and it doesn’t take a million guesses to work out which one was attracting the most attention.
The majority of the bottom tier could be seen with their backs to the pitch, pointing and singing at Ferdinand in the studio.
