Leeds United fans' shock as Kalvin Phillips on '£25k a week' spotted shopping in Costco

Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips has been spotted doing a spot of shopping in Costco.

The England football star shocked fans when he was seen on Tuesday (March 6) roaming the aisles of the discount supermarket. He was wearing his Leeds United black tracksuit and carrying his car keys and phone.

The 26-year-old was immediately recognised by fans - with some wearing the classic white, yellow, and blue kit in the Hunslet store. He posed for pictures by the appliances aisle with one family which "made their night".

The sighting of the midfielder came as a surprise to LUFC fans as the footballer earns a whopping £25,000 a week, Leeds Live understands. In a post that raked in hundreds of likes and comments on social media, Leeds residents shared their thoughts.

One individual said: "He's class. I was just having a casual chat with him yesterday halfway in my car window. What a nice bloke he is!"

Stuart Hamilton said: "He loves Costco." Stephen Morton added: "£25K a week and he's shopping in Costco." Paul Lacey added: "Paying for a Lambo must be tough."

But a number of fans came to his defence as one said: "Don't see why not he's got to shop somewhere like everyone else - he's no different." Another added: "What do you mean shopping in Costco. Is he not allowed? Do only poor people shop there."

And Mel Millard said: "Aww we were in Costco's yesterday. Shame we would have loved to meet him. Great pictures with a top bloke!"

Julie Cropper went to the Leathley Road shop with her husband Paul, grandson McCorley, and granddaughter Darcey. Not knowing he was there, the family were all dressed in Leeds kit.

Julie said: "It made my grandson's night. Kalvin asked if we were all OK and he called my granddaughter over to him to get in a photograph. He asked if the kids were OK and said thank you - he was a true gentleman.

"He made my McCorley's day with the video. He walked straight up to him and McCorley was in shock and so excited - same as his sister and Paul."
