Leeds United FA Cup prize money confirmed after Whites suffer fifth-round exit

Leeds United amassed a total of £225,000 in prize money for reaching the FA Cup fifth round for the first time since 2016.

The Whites received £105,000 for defeating Cardiff City over two games, and a further £120,000 for knocking out League One opponents Accrington Stanley in the fourth round.

Reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals would've secured Leeds another cheque for £225,000, which would've taken their total earnings in prize money up to £450,000.

However, Leeds' journey in the competition came to an end, as fellow Premier League rivals Fulham condemned them to a 2-0 defeat at Craven Cottage on Tuesday.

Leeds came from two goals behind in the third round against Cardiff City in the Welsh capital, with goals from Rodrigo and Sonny Perkins forcing a replay.

They made light work of the Bluebirds at Elland Road - storming into a 5-0 lead inside 76 minutes. Wilfried Gnonto and Patrick Bamford both bagged braces, while Rodrigo also got his name on the score sheet.

Callum Robinson scored two late goals for Cardiff but Leeds comfortably secured their passage into the next round. A trip to Accrington Stanley's Wham Stadium was their reward, and Jack Harrison, Junior Firpo and Luis Sinisterra all netted in a comprehensive 3-1 triumph.

However, it was Fulham who put their name in the hat for the quarter-finals, as goals from Joao Palhinha and Manor Solomon in either half propelled the Cottagers to victory.
