It may only be November, but it appears the silly season for transfer rumours has started early. Case in point is the latest news that Leeds United have taken their first steps in trying to secure AC Milan midfielder Charles De Ketelaere in the January transfer window.
There are claims the Whites are "reaching out" to the Serie A club and could be trying to do a deal. Given Leeds never got closet to signing the player in the summer as he chose Milan, it would be a major surprise for the club to bring him in now, even more so given the fee it would take to land him.
The 21-year-old hasn't enjoyed his time in Milan after joining them in the summer for a reported fee of £30 million after finding just one assist and no goals in 18 appearances this season.
This is in stark contrast to his time at Club Brugge last season, where he managed 18 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances for the Belgian champions and now the Whites want to bring him to Elland Road according to a latest report.

The 21-year-old has also enjoyed international success with Belgium, finding himself 10 senior caps for Roberto Martinez's squad, including a goal in the Nations League against Italy.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, CBS reporter Ben Jacobs highlighted De Ketelaere as one target the Whites could grab in the January transfer window but noted the limited time he's had to adjust to the Serie A.
He said; "I think one name to mention is still Charles De Ketelaere. Leeds have reached out to Milan to see whether anything is or isn’t possible and they’ve previously been linked with De Ketelaere.
"He had a standout 2021/2022 campaign for Brugge. He scored 18 goals, got 10 assists and then, of course, he only just joined Milan."
