Leeds United duo Joe Gelhardt and Cody Drameh tipped for Elland Road departures

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes Joe Gelhardt and Cody Drameh could leave Elland Road this summer for familiar places. Both spent last season on loan in the Championship and came up against each other in the play-off final between Sunderland and Luton Town.

Drameh, who is entering the final year of his contract, has been linked with a permanent move away from Leeds given a lack of game time for the Whites. The young defender has stood out for Luton in their promotion push and has been tipped for a permanent move to the Hatters this summer.

As for Gelhardt, the young striker came through a tough start at Sunderland to help them reach the play-offs. The former Wigan Athletic striker scored three times and notched three assist in 20 appearances but Georginio Rutter's arrival at Elland Road pushed him further down the pecking order in January and another loan spell could be in the offing.

“I think both clubs will probably try [Sunderland for Gelhardt and Luton for Drameh],” Robinson told MOT Leeds News. “Gelhardt is coming up against Bamford, Rodrigo and Rutter, who has hardly played. You question what’s going to happen.

“I think Gelhardt’s next move is very dependent on the players who are in the current squad. If Leeds are in the Championship, he’s proved he can do it at that level.

“He’s a good young player who has a part to play at Leeds United. If Leeds stay up, a further loan could be an option for another year of development.”
