Leeds United dressing room on Arsenal what ifs as Elland Road double header target made clear

Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson says him and his teammates are already 'fully focused' on next week's matches against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace after their 4-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Goals from Ben White, Granit Xhaka and a Gabriel Jesus brace meant a heavy loss for the Whites at the Emirates Stadium despite Rasmus Kristensen's late consolation.

But despite shipping four goals, Aaronson believes it was the side's inability to take advantage of their opportunities going forward rather than defensive mistakes.

"Yeah, it was a tough game," he told LUTV after the match. "We came into it with a gameplan and I think if we actually finish a few of our chances, the game could've gone a different way but it's onto Tuesday and that's our next focus.

"I think it was going well [before the penalty] and we had them on the counter-attack a few times but we couldn't finish our chances and that's the end of the story, really.

"If we finish those, it could be a different game."

With Leeds slipping down to 16th after late drama around them in the table, it means next week's double-header against Forest and Palace will be even more vital to the squad's chances of survival.

"We went in at halftime and we knew what we'd have to do which was defend well, play together, stronger, and we let ourselves down and that's what happens sometimes," Aaronson admitted.

"The thing about this team is that we don't give up. We're not going to give up until the end of the season so we're going to keep fighting and as I said, full focus on Tuesday.

"We want all three points [against Forest], we're going for all six next week. It's what we're going to try and do. I feel good, I think the team feels good.

"After a result like this, it's never a good feeling but you've got to have a good mentality to move you onto the next match."
