Leeds United director of football Victor Orta reportedly set for Elland Road departure

Leeds United's director of football Victor Orta is expected to leave the club after six years at the helm of Elland Road. The Spaniard, who was appointed to the role by owner Andrea Radrizzani in 2017, held talks on Monday with the club and are now set to part ways, according to the Athletic.

Orta has faced significant pressure over the past few years to resign or be sacked by supporters, with the relationship becoming increasingly strained in recent weeks after successive heavy defeats to the likes of Arsenal, Bournemouth, Liverpool and Crystal Palace.

Many fans have held him responsible for the club's poor performances in the transfer market in recent years, but have also hailed him as the man who bought club legend Marcelo Bielsa in back in the summer of 2018.

With head coach Javi Gracia also set to depart after just ten weeks in the Elland Road dugout due to the looming threat of relegation, major changes are happening at Elland Road in order to try and stem the bleeding of points. Sam Allardyce is reportedly in the frame to replace the Spaniard in the dugout.

Leeds currently sit in 17th, above the relegation zone only on goal difference with four games remaining in the season - including three of the top six teams in the Premier League.
