Terms have been agreed between Leeds United and Ipswich Town for the transfer of Leif Davis to Portman Road, with the move expected to go through this week. The 22-year-old has less than one year remaining on his Elland Road deal and little chance of playing much next season.
The Tractor Boys have had a long-held interest in the left-back and were forced to wait for a decision from Leeds and Davis while he had a last chance to impress Jesse Marsch in Australia on tour. After an injury to what was the club’s only fit, senior left-back, the door opened for Davis, but he has not done enough to warrant Premier League starts.
With the former Bournemouth loanee now back from Australia, the finishing touches can be applied to the move and Davis will move to Suffolk for a fee. Earlier this month, East Anglian Daily Times reported it would be a seven-figure buy for Ipswich.

The Whites remain on the lookout for another left-back to compete with Junior Firpo, who is ruled out for the opening weeks of the new campaign, but understood to be making good progress in his injury recovery. As it stands, Pascal Struijk, Leo Hjelde and Jack Harrison look the likeliest bets to begin the campaign on the left of defence.
Davis departs Elland Road four years after arriving from Morecambe. The Newcastle native quickly impressed with the club’s under-23 side and became a mainstay under Carlos Corberan.
Marcelo Bielsa memorably turned to Davis for his debut at the 11th hour in December 2018 when Barry Douglas fell ill at Villa Park, in what turned out to be a classic 3-2 win. Chances remained at a premium for Davis, who ultimately went out on loan to Bournemouth in the Championship last season.
He now goes to League One, where the former Premier League outfit are building for a promotion push at Portman Road.
