Leeds United are reportedly set to miss out on another of their January targets with Calvin Ramsay set to stay at Aberdeen beyond today’s deadline.
That is according to the Scotsman, who claim that despite interest from several clubs from across Europe, he will be remaining at Pittodrie until the summer.
The Whites have been fighting alongside Watford and Serie A outfit Bologna for his signature, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting on Friday that Leeds were leading the race.
Di Marzio claims that Bologna have seen an offer of a loan with an option to buy rejected, which in turn saw Leeds jump into pole position.
Reports have also emerged in recent days that Watford are now also keen on the 18-year-old, but Aberdeen are doing all they can to ensure he is still their player come the end of today.
Ramsay appears as though he is the next top-quality full-back off the Scottish football production line, following in the footsteps of Andy Robertson, Kieran Tierney, as well as youngsters Nathan Patterson and Aaron Hickey.
He was handed his debut for the club towards the backend of last season, where he came on as a substitute in a 1-0 defeat against Dundee United.
After a handful of appearances from the bench, Ramsay has established himself as a key member of Aberdeen’s first-team squad this season.
He set his stall out for the campaign instantly when he was handed a start in a Europa Conference League qualification match against Hacken.
Ramsay registered the first of his eight assists for the season against the Swedish side and his dynamic, attacking displays are what has caught the attention of scouts from across Europe.
And while a move this month is now looking unlikely, given his impressive numbers, summer interest is bound to be rife.
