Leeds United confirm departure of defender to League One side Ipswich Town

Leeds United have confirmed the departure of left back Leif Davis to Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee. Davis was first linked with the League One side a number of weeks ago but was handed the chance to impress Jesse Marsch over pre-season.

The 22-year-old, though, was often overlooked for the likes of Jack Harrison, Leo Hjelde and Pascal Struijk during the tour of Australia, which was perhaps a clear indicator that his future was to lay elsewhere. The Tractor Boys could be set to pay a League One record fee for a defender with the capture of Davis, who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth.

A statement from Leeds read: “Leeds United can confirm that Leif Davis has today joined Ipswich Town in a permanent deal, for an undisclosed fee.

“The defender joined the Whites in 2018 from Morecambe and initially went into the Under-23s side, before impressing and working his way into the first team setup. Davis was given his Championship debut for the club in a memorable 3-2 victory away at Aston Villa.

“Overall, he made 14 appearances for the club, two of which were in the Premier League during the 2020/21 season.

“Everyone at Leeds United would like to wish Leif the best of luck with the remainder of his career and thank him for his efforts whilst at Elland Road, most notably for being part of the 2019/20 promotion winning side.”
