Leeds United sporting director Victor Orta has told Newcastle United target Gabri Veiga a move to the Premier League may not be the best move at this stage in his career. The Magipies, along with Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid have all been credited with an interest in the Celta Vigo youngster.
The 20-year-old is enjoying a stellar breakthrough campaign in La Liga, with nine goals in 28 appearances in all competitions this season. His form has earned him his first call-up to Spain's Under-21 side and Europe's top clubs are now watching his every move.
The downfall of La Liga's in recent years is epitomised by Barcelona and Real Madrid's European Super League devotion, with Barca's perilous financial state well documented. Orta believes there are very few opportunities for rising talents to stay in Spain, with Real Madrid enjoying the pick of talent, albeit regular game time at Los Blancos would come at a premium.

Speaking to Spanish news outlet Relevo, Orta said: "The example of Gabri Veiga. How many chances do we think there are that the new Spanish soccer talent, Gabri Veiga, will stay in Spain?
"Well, it seems minimal. Either he goes to Real Madrid, which could be one of the issues, or he goes to England. And he just came out, having only been competing for six months.
"It is very painful. How does Spanish talent not stay in Spain? Well, because middle-class clubs can't afford it.
"And Gabri, I don't know, I'm not in his head, he decides that he's not going to Madrid because he's not going to play much and he's going to Newcastle or Aston Villa the same way. It is the reality of this market and the recruitment of talent by the Premier."
