Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani linked with takeover at another Italian club

Leeds United chiarman Andrea Radrizzani has been linked with a takeover at recently relegated Italian side Sampdoria. The Whites chief has been linked with a takeover at Champions League semi-finalists Inter Milan as part of a consortium, but could turn his attention elsewhere according to reports in Italy.

Il Secolo, via ClubDoria46, claim Radrizzani could take over the financially stricken Sampdoria but there's a race against time. The Whites owner is expected to sell his shares at Elland Road this summer with 49ers Enterprises reportedly set to up their stake once more.

The report says Radrizzani will get £420m for the Whites if they stay in the Premier League, and £150m if they don’t. La Doria are at risk of bankruptcy which would require a quick turnaround in order to avoid any potential penalties for next season.

The report claims the lower amount of £150million would be enough to save Sampdoria with just 13 days before a key shareholder meeting. It's not the first time Radrizzani has been linked with a struggling Serie A side.

The Whites boss was linked with a takeover at Salernitana last season, but no bid would transpire and they'd survive in the Italian top flight for another season. Sampdoria on the other hand, will be playing in Serie B next season with their near rivals Genoa coming the opposite direction having won promotion.

There's been plenty of speculation surrounding Radrizzani's future at Elland Road, with a deadline of January 2024 in place for the 49ers to complete their takeover. It has long been suggested a takeover could come this summer, but relegation could muddy the picture.

Sporting director Victor Orta left the club earlier this month with Leeds fighting for their lives at the foot of the Premier League table with many supporters holding the board accountable for the last two seasons of disappointment.
