Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch's summer admission could hint at Cody Drameh exit

Jesse Marsch's comments on Cody Drameh back in the summer suggest that the youngster could leave Leeds United in order to gain more playing time.

The 20-year-old returned to Elland Road looking to challenge for a place in the first team, after a successful loan spell at Cardiff City during the second half of last season.

However, despite making his Premier League debut in the 5-2 defeat at Brentford in September, Drameh has remained firmly behind Rasmus Kristensen and Luke Ayling in the pecking order.

He has returned to the U21s since Ayling's return from injury and has been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks. German giants Borussia Dortmund, and fellow Premier League rivals Newcastle United are among those reportedly tracking him.

Although Marsch backed Drameh to succeed at Leeds earlier this season, he did concede that his main goal is to play on a consistent basis, which is something he has been unable to do at Leeds.

Marsch told Leeds Live in August: “I've seen him grow a lot in the last weeks. I think he's performed well within the team. I think he's fit well within the team. What happens with him going forward, I think it's not totally solidified one way or the other quite yet.

“The window is still open. I think he knows he wants to play games and that's important for him but we also value having him here. So we'll see how that next week goes and exactly what comes out of it but I can just say that in the moment. I think he's fully a part of our team in our club and he has a big future here.”
