Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch praised for 'standing his ground' in Bruno Lage altercation

Jesse Marsch has been praised for 'standing his ground' in his touchline altercation with Bruno Lage after Leeds United defeated Wolves 2-1 at Elland Road.

Marsch was quick to play down the incident, but Lage claimed the American said something out of order. The Whites came from behind to win in an entertaining affair in Yorkshire, with a goal from Rodrigo and an own-goal from Rayan Ait-Nouri cancelling out Daniel Podence's early strike.

On the The 2 Robbies podcast, Robbie Earle said it was good to see Marsch 'holding his own' in the full-time altercation.

"It was interesting," said Earle. "Apparently words were said in the first-half and Bruno didn't like it.

"Listen, you have to stand your ground sometimes as a manager in the Premier League. It was good to see Jesse Marsch holding his own. At the end, he did pay respect to Bruno and said he admires how his team plays."

On the pitch, it was an impressive start to the season by Leeds, who secured just their third home win of 2022. Former Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Robbie Mustoe believes the Whites could have a successful season if they avoid injury problems.

"Brenden Aaronson, the new signing, looked sharp," said Mustoe. "He thought he'd got a goal but it ended up being an own-goal. Patrick Bamford looks good, and it's kind of looking good for Leeds right now, although it is super early of course.

"(It's all about) if this group can stay fit, because Leeds have had injury problems ever since they've been back in the top flight, but it was a good day for Jesse Marsch."
