Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch issues Patrick Bamford injury update as he mulls Everton changes

Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch has revealed that Patrick Bamford is nearing a return from an adductor injury.

Bamford limped off in the first half of United's 2-2 draw at Southampton on August 13 and has missed Leeds' last two league games against Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.

The 28-year-old suffered an injury-ridden season in 2021/22 - featuring just 10 times across all competitions, scoring twice.

Marsch said: "Patrick Bamford will be really close for that match. So we should have options."

Summer signing Luis Sinisterra opened his goal scoring account in Leeds' 3-1 victory over Barnsley in the EFL Cup, while Mateusz Klich scored a brace against the Tykes.

The pair are yet to make a single Premier League start for the Whites this season. Sinisterra was brought off with a hamstring injury in United's pre-season 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace in July and Klich, who has previously been linked with a move away from Elland Road, has featured from the bench in each of Leeds' four Premier League matches.

However, Marsch has suggested that both players are in contention for a start against Everton on Tuesday.

"Well, I think that they both are in good form," Marsch said. "I thought both played very well against Barnsley.

"Klichy's clearly 100% fit and I think that Luis is getting more and more fit. And then we'll evaluate physically where the guys are at so that we'll see who's ready to repeat and go.

"It's a good thing that we didn't push too many guys midweek. We'll see how Liam Cooper is doing."
