Leeds United have announced the departure of goalkeeper Kiko Casilla by mutual consent. The announcement ends Casilla's three-and-a-half year spell at Elland Road.
The former Real Madrid stopper signed in January 2019 on a four-and-a-half year deal. Casilla played 61 times for Leeds, keeping 23 clean sheets.
The 35-year-old was found guilty in February 2020 of racially abusing Jonathan Leko during a game between Leeds and Charlton Athletic in September of the previous year. He was given an eight-match ban and fined £60,000.
The following season in the Premier League, Casilla played back-up to Illan Meslier. He made just five appearances in all competitions and a 3-1 win over West Brom at Elland Road in the final game of the 2020/21 campaign proved to be his last in a Leeds shirt.

Last season he was loaned out to La Liga side Elche CF, making just 16 appearances for the club after losing his place as the starting 'keeper midway through the campaign.
In a club statement, the Whites said: “Leeds United and Kiko Casilla have parted company by mutual consent. We would like to thank Kiko for his contributions during his time at the club and we wish him well in the future.”
Early this month LeedsLive asked 4,000 Leeds fans if they would keep or sell Casilla this summer, and just 8.7% selected 'keep'.
