Leeds United 'already know' Calvin Ramsay transfer decision with Liverpool interested

There have been reports that Leeds are interested in striking a deal for Calvin Ramsay, with the Aberdeen teenager considered to be a top target for Jesse Marsch and Victor Orta this summer. With Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas both having suffered difficult seasons through form and injury issues there is a clear need for right-back reinforcements and Ramsay could fill that role.

However, it looks as though Leeds are resigned to missing out on the 18-year-old's signature, with the Athletic reporting that Liverpool are determined to sign the Scotland youth international meaning that Leeds' pursuit may end before it starts this summer with Jurgen Klopp's double winners a desirable destination for any young star.

However, with the Yorkshire club's current lack of squad depth, the chance to join Marsch's project could well appeal for any young player with the chance of first team football looking likely. This is especially the case here, given Leeds' troubles this season and Trent Alexander-Arnold's role with the Reds.

The Aberdeen star made 19 starts in the Scottish Premiership last season and is a name which has emerged as an elite prospect as a full-back, a position the Scottish system has enjoyed huge success in producing with Kieran Tierney and Andy Robertson thriving on the left flank.

Should he join, he may have to compete with Jamie Shackleton, who can cover the role alongside his duties in central midfield but with a move looking unlikely it will be a source of relief to Orta and Marsch that they can call upon Shackleton should Liverpool succeed as they are expected to.
