Leeds United moved out of the bottom three after they beat relegation rivals Southampton 1-0 at Elland Road in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Firpo's 77th minute strike made the difference as Javi Gracia got off to the perfect start as Leeds manager. The Saints came to West Yorkshire off the back of an impressive 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but the Whites kept them at arm's-length to win a crucial relegation clash.
Jack Harrison's clever flick found Firpo inside the area as the defender slotted his low effort under Gavin Bazunu in goal for the Saints. Although the goalkeeper should have arguably done better, Leeds did not care one bit as wild celebrations were sparked the moment the ball hit the back of the net.

Gracia praised both Robin Koch and Max Wober after they dealt with 6ft 7in striker Paul Onuachu. Illan Meslier was calm in goal as he looked to put his misjudgment against Everton behind him - yet in truth the Frenchman was never truly tested.
Another solid display from Luke Ayling highlighted how pivotal a role Gracia's full-backs will play under him. Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie's midfield partnership held firm, with the American duo showing their steel and tenacity when needed.
Willy Gnonto and Brenden Aaronson both looked sharp in the first-half and despite ultimately failing to find a finishing touch, there was plenty to be optimistic about for the rest of the season. Crysencio Summerville looked lively coming off the bench, as he Georginio Rutter and Marc Roca all came on in the second-half.
