Leeds Rhinos suffer fresh injury blow as David Fusitu'a sustains worrying blow

The first half didn't go to plan for Leeds Rhinos against Hull KR as they found themselves 14-0 down in horrendous conditions. But beyond that, they suffered a fresh injury blow to one of their regular starters.

David Fusitu'a was helped from the field after picking up an ankle injury in a nasty-looking collision with Ryan Hall. The Rhinos winger was attempting to make a tackle on the former Headingley favourite but the pair engaged in an awkward clash on legs.

The former NRL winger was in visible pain afterwards and after limping off the field, was eventually required to be assisted down the tunnel. It was confirmed he would not be able to return and once he did return to the dugout, he did so wearing a protective boot.

The severity of the injury remains unclear but Sky Sports' Jenna Brooks confirmed scans had been set which would be used to determine the extent of the damage suffered. It's a blow to Fusitu'a, who has struggled with injuries for several seasons. He has been an ever-present this season though, which had proven to be his most consistent run in the side.

His opening season saw him restricted to just 14 appearances and he had only played twelve times in his previous two campaigns while playing for the New Zealand Warriors.

It compounds the issues for Rohan Smith, with his other senior winger, Ash Handley, also currently on the sidelines.

After a controversial swap deal that has got people talking, the latest House of League episode welcomes Hull KR and Wakefield Trinity CEOs Paul Lakin and Michael Carter, who give their take on the Corey Hall/Will Dagger trade, plus lots more.
