Leeds Rhinos forward Rhyse Martin has officially levelled the rugby league world record for most successful goal kicks without a miss, and is just one away from setting a new record. Martin kicked three successful goals during Papua New Guinea's dramatic defeat to Tonga in St Helens on Tuesday evening.
It means that Martin has now kicked an astonishing 41 consecutive kicks in all competitions without a miss, dating back months for both club and country. He has already moved level with Mason Lino's Super League record, but is now tied with the two players that have kicked the most in any competition without a miss.
That honour currently falls to Jamie Ellis and Liam Finn, who did so in the Championship. But Martin moved level with the pair on Tuesday with his three successful conversions, the third of which tied the game up at 18-18 before Tonga dramatically snatched victory in the final minutes.

But Martin will have the chance to etch his name into rugby league's history books when the Kumuls face the Cook Islands in Warrington next Tuesday.
Martin's side played their part in undoubtedly the most exciting game of the Rugby League World Cup so far. They trailed 18-6 at half-time but fought back brilliantly to level the game, with Leigh Centurions pair Edwin Ipape and Lachlan Lam also superb for the Kumuls.
However, while they were ultimately beaten, Martin knows he can become a rugby league record-breaker when he next takes to the field with one more successful conversion.
