Leeds Rhinos players applauded for playing lovely role in Rob Burrow marathon

A number of Leeds Rhinos' ex-players ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon, but the current crop of stars played their part in the event too.

The event, which started and finished at Headingley Stadium, saw the likes of Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Jamie Peacock and Barrie McDermott take part, while head coach Rohan Smith also ran the half marathon course.

But less than 48 hours on from their excellent victory over Wigan Warriors, a number of their stars were back on the field in a different role to usual.

The likes of Cameron Smith, Jarrod O'Connor and David Fusitu'a were all in attendance and got involved in the festivities, welcoming runners at the end of the marathon as they handed out medals. Mikolaj Oledzki, Sam Lisone and Luis Roberts were also there as the club captured them showing their support.

It generated praise from supporters who were pleased to see the current players get involved in a cause important to the club given Burrow's long history with the Rhinos.

Ali Burr said: "Massive respect, class act, well done lads and club!" Alan Thompson added: "Well done to everyone who took part for a great man and great cause & well done to the Rhinos boys for handing out the medals."
