Leeds Rhinos boosted by arrival of experienced former Super League star Scott Grix

Leeds Rhinos have added to their backroom staff with Scott Grix linking up with the club. Grix called time on a 19-season playing career at the end of 2021 after making more than 400 professional appearances but has quickly jumped into the world of coaching and is now gaining experience with the Rhinos.

He is combining the role with his position at hometown club Halifax Panthers, where he acts as the club's strength and conditioning coach as well as assisting his younger brother Simon, who is head coach of the Championship club.

Grix initially went to Headingley to gain further experience and assist the club's head of performance Richard Hunwicks from a conditioning standpoint, but it's believed he has started to do work with the outside backs since the departure of Richard Agar. He has been assisting during the team's warm-up sessions before a game.

Highly respected as a player, 38-year-old Grix played 22 times for Ireland and represented Huddersfield, Wakefield and Widnes among others during a distinguished career.

Leeds are continuing to search for a new head coach with Gary Hetherington currently in Australia on the lookout for a new person to take them forward after a dismal start to the year.
