LeedsLive spoke to residents on Boggart Hill Drive about the attack. One resident said she was shocked to find out, saying she heard shouting before police and ambulances arrived.
The elderly resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "I was just heading to the bin and I heard shouting and bawling, then next thing I know it all erupted, this never happens around here, honestly never, there's occasionally some shouting but nothing like this. We keep ourselves to ourselves and stay out of it."
Another resident, who lives just up the road was informed by their postman and was concerned it would shed a bad light on the area.
He said: "Never seen anything like this, not with all the police and paramedics, it's a shame because it ends up making the area look dangerous and it isn't at all, it was the postman that told me it happened when he was out on the street."
Police remain in the area, with increased patrols to help residents feel at ease. An investigation has been launched by Leeds CID.
