Leeds has been crowned the best place in the UK for a day out.
This is ideal news for parents starting to plan summer holidays for their little ones. Inspired by this, Tombola carried out a study which saw them analyse 1,393,370 TripAdvisor reviews in 20 of the UK’s most popular destinations.
A spokesperson said: “With the school summer holidays only weeks away, families will be planning days out to entertain the children during the long six weeks off school. Recent reports suggest that Brits are still choosing to holiday at home.” According to the index, Leeds scored 64 points in total across all four key criteria.

These are Sunday lunch reviews, fish and chips reviews, top parks and free attractions. Leeds came 10 points ahead of second place Nottingham. The other Yorkshire city to feature in the top 20 is York which came sixth.

Leeds scored the highest points for both Sunday lunch and the best park. The data looked at the two most popular restaurants that mentioned ‘Sunday dinner’, ‘Sunday lunch’ and ‘vegan options’ the most.
While, 23 per cent of the total reviews featured those words, suggesting it is the best spot to tuck into the traditional British dish. In terms of parks, 20 per cent of all reviews mention the words ‘scenic’, ‘lovely walk’ and ‘green space’.
