Leeds gastro pub loved by Emmerdale stars set to reopen after sudden closure

A pub popular with Emmerdale stars is set to reopen after a sudden closure.

Earlier this year, we brought you news of The Reliance, based in Leeds city centre, closing. Last year, Marlon Dingle actor Mark Charnock held a big party at the venue to celebrate his 25 years on Emmerdale.

Posting on Facebook, they said: “It is with very mixed emotions that we, Joss and Becs, announce that our combined 40 year long shift at the Reliance has come to an end.

“It’s been a privilege to work with and serve so many wonderful people over the years but the time has come to make space for other things in our lives. Thank you all for all your support.”

The popular pub and restaurant will soon reopen rebranded. Three’s A Crowd, the Michelin recommended modern gastro pub, is taking on the venue - based in North Street.

Spread over two floors, the new Three’s A Crowd venue will seat up to 82 diners. In homage to its roots, Three’s A Crowd will also continue to serve The Reliance Blonde ale on tap.

John Quinlan, owner of Three’s A Crowd, said: “The whole Three’s A Crowd team is so excited to throw open our doors to our first guests at the end of the month. Bookings for March are filling up fast, so to avoid disappointment, make sure to book now here.

“We’re honoured to be taking on the Reliance’s old premises on North Street and feel privileged to be able to continue the legacy of the brand while also bringing our hallmark Three’s A Crowd service and menu to the city.”

The new venture will open on Wednesday, March 1. The original Three’s A Crowd is based in Harrogate’s West Park.

The team behind the new Leeds venture are promising locally-sourced food, premium wine list and friendly atmosphere. You can find out more and book a table by visiting their venue’s website.
