Leeds Bradford Airport has released a statement after a plane, believed to be carrying Leeds United players, filled with smoke on the runway causing planes to circle the airport.
Reports indicated a plane with Leeds United players on board "filled with smoke" on the runway. At around 8pm on Sunday, October 9, the plane tracking service FlightRadar showed at least two aircraft circling the airport.
There was an unconfirmed report from a private pilot who said that the disruption started when Leeds United's team plane had to be evacuated on the runway. The tweet from Stephen Reynolds said: "Small incident this evening with the plane carrying the Leeds team home from London.

"The aircraft landed at LBA and subsequently stopped on the runway with reports of smoke in the cockpit, other planes have been told to circle and the aircraft has been evacuated."
At 8.23pm last evening, the incident was closed. Now Leeds Bradford Airport have released an update on the incident.
According to the airport, "precautionary emergency procedures" were followed but the plane landed safely and nobody was harmed. The airport spokesman said: "“Precautionary emergency procedures were followed yesterday evening at LBA, however nobody was harmed in the incident and the flight landed safely.
"Normal services at LBA resumed quickly.”
