The mother of two boys who drowned in Townsville in February 2019 has pleaded not guilty to two counts of manslaughter in the Supreme Court of Queensland.
WARNING: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are advised the following story contains images of people who have died.
Leeanne Chrysilla Eatts, 51, is charged over the drowning deaths of her sons Jhulio Sariago, three, and Barak Austral, five, in the Ross River in February 2019.
The boys' disappearance sparked a widespread community search on the night before their bodies were found.
Ms Eatts appeared in the Supreme Court in Townsville on Wednesday morning and was represented by defence barrister Harvey Walters.
She pleaded not guilty to both counts of manslaughter.
It is the first time Ms Eatts has formally entered a plea to both charges.
Crown prosecutor Andrew Walklate told the court the prosecution was prepared for trial.
The court was told Ms Eatts's defence barrister was considering proposing a change of venue due to the extensive publicity the matter received.
Justice David North said that would "almost inevitably" force the trial to be held in the second half of the year.
He set the matter down for a legal representatives-only mention on April 3.
