Lee McCulloch reveals Rangers welcome gift he gave to Michael Beale

Lee McCulloch has revealed he sent a gift to Michael Beale to welcome him back to Rangers.

The former Ibrox midfielder congratulated Beale on his return to Rangers as manager with a bottle of whisky and some cashmere.

McCulloch explained: "I actually sent him a gift not so long ago of some cashmere and a bottle of whisky, which he thanked me for.

"He just said thanks mate - that's the best whisky I've ever tried!

"He just thanked me. I thought I would send him a bottle of it, and I've got a pal doing cashmere stuff, just to welcome him."

And McCulloch is confident Beale will bring a fearlessness back to the Rangers dressing room and build a team willing to go the extra mile on the pitch.

He said: "A fearlessness and togetherness is definitely coming back into the dressing room through him.

"I have been in the technical area against him and spoken to him a few times.

"I think he is different from most young managers. He's not naive, he's good on the grass.

"A lot of people will say they're good on the grass for young managers, but I think a manager is side of the pitch, half-time, before the game and tactics.

"But it's getting the players to really run through a brick wall for you.

"A lot of people know tactics. If you look back to Walter Smith and top, top managers they knew tactics, loads of people know tactics but it's not solely about tactics it's about being willing to go through the pain barrier for your manager. And I think he has got a bit of that in him.

"I think the players really look up to him and that's really going to help going forward."
