Lee Mack didn't hold back tonight with his 'party gate' jibes as Boris Johnson was in the audience at the Platinum Party at the Palace.
The comic took to the stage after Queen and Adam Lambert opened the show, and couldn't resist poking fun at the Prime Minister as he was sat just metres away.
Taking to the stage, the Not Going Out comedian welcomed everyone to Buckingham Palace for the celebrations, dubbing it the "party of a lifetime", noting how lucky everyone was to watch a concert at the palace gates.
But it was his stinging joke at the expense at Boris that had the whole audience laughing, writes the Mirror.
"Finally we can say the words Party and Gate and it be a positive," he said, earning a raucous sound of laughter from the audience who had gathered in The Mall.
The Platinum Party at the Palace is taking place this evening, with thousands of people including a number of people who had worked on the frontline during the Covid pandemic, in attendance.
Kirsty Young and Roman Kemp are hosting the event, which saw the Queen's 70 year reign remembered and celebrated.
The performances took place on a 360 degree stage, with the likes of Sir Rod Stewart, Diana Ross and Ed Sheeran taking to the stage. Scores of people without tickets also filled The Mall in a bid to get a piece of the action.
Diana Ross is set to close the show in her first UK performance in 15 years.
Writing on Instagram at the time, she shared: "I am honoured to perform for Her Majesty The Queen once again and I am so excited to be returning to the UK after so long. I cannot wait to meet and reconnect with all of my family, friends and fans there to share the love. #DianaRossThankYou #PlatinumJubilee #HM70."
Ed Sheeran - who also performed tonight - had previously explained how he had been inspired to go into music by seeing one of his musical heroes performing at one of these royal concerts 20 years back.
"20 years ago I decided I wanted to pick up a guitar because I watched the Golden Jubilee on tv, saw Eric Clapton play Layla and said ‘that’s what I wanna do’. 10 years later I played The A Team at the Diamond Jubilee, and now 10 years on I’m playing the Platinum Jubilee this Sunday. Life is weird how it keeps coming full circle in lovely ways," he shared.
