Lee Johnson 'sick to death' of Hibs team as he questions mentality of his side and vows flops will be flogged

Lee Johnson has admitted he is "sick to death" of how bad his Hibernian side have been in front of goal over the past couple of weeks.

The Easter Road boss blasted his side after being thumped 3-0 by Hearts in the Edinburgh Derby at Tynecastle this afternoon. Raging Johnson fumed: "There's no doubt mentally we've got to be stronger as a team. I'm sick to death if I'm honest of the mediocrity in that final third. The ball was like a hot potato and to be honest I’m sick to death of the mediocrity. We need to move players out in January."

Lawrence Shankland scored a first half double to give the Gorgie outfit a five point cushion in third place after Aberdeen dropped points at home to Ross County. A stoppage time third from substitute Stephen Humphrys put the icing on the cake for the Jambos who are now eight Edinburgh derbies in a row unbeaten. Johnson filleted his players for their first half display in his post-match interview saying the club as a whole is "not doing enough at the moment".

He added: "First half it wasn't enough, we had a couple of opportunities to get on the end of something but inevitably they were more clinical than us. They looked tidier. I thought Snodgrass run the game in the first half, which is why I had to make the changes in the second half to get closer to him.

"At key moments in the game they delivered, and we didn't. I think that is a little bit of a story at the club at the moment. It's a fantastic football club but we're not doing enough at the moment, and I think that showed today in the first half."

Johnson will take some comfort from the second half display as Hibs improved in the second half and had the hosts pinned back for long periods. There were also two tweaks to the Hibernian team that kicked off their 4-0 defeat at home to Celtic as the suspended Ryan Porteous and Kyle Magennis dropped out, with Harry McKirdy and on-loan Manchester United defender Will Fish taking over.

It comes after reports that Porteous is in talks with Italian Serie A outfit Udinese. The Scotland defender is out of contract in the summer and won't be signing a new deal at Easter Road.
