Lee Johnson has provided an update on Hibs' search for a director of football insisting a number of 'very strong' candidates have been interviewed.
The Easter Road boss expects the capital club to to narrow down that list over the next couple of weeks and take part in a round of second interviews. That could potentially involve him having conversations with those in the running over how they can work together with an appointment to be made before the summer.
The men from Leith secured top six football and are now chasing a spot in Europe for next season. They will face Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Aberdeen and St Mirren across the final five fixtures to determine their final league position for this season. Fifth place would be enough to secure Europa Conference League football if either Old Firm side lifts the Scottish Cup. Providing an update and timeline on the search, he said: “I know the club have interviewed a number of very strong candidates in terms of name and CV. So that’s been interesting for me to look at from afar. It’s going very well.

“I think the plan now is to narrow it down over the next couple of weeks, probably conduct a second interview.
“Then potentially I’ll have conversations with those guys to see how we’ll work together and go from there and then we’ll make an appointment certainly before the summer."
He continued: “Part of the interview process they will be asked what they have seen and what they would expect to change.
“So that bit is interesting, to get someone with a fresh set of eyes on it, who has done their due diligence properly.
“But also you know it was strongly weighted to a recruitment background as well.
"So again, to do their due diligence as best as possible and add value as best as possible, as early as possible.”
