Lee Johnson Hibs positive injury update on Kevin Nisbet following Aiden McGeady blow

Lee Johnson has confirmed star man Kevin Nisbet is back and available for Hibs after the news that Aiden McGeady's season is over.

The Easter Road veteran has struggled with injuries this campaign and after a short return to action, he picked up another knock and will be out for the remainder of the season. It's a huge blow to the capital club but they have been boosted in the attacking areas with Mykola Kuharevich also back in contention.

Nisbet and his Hibees team-mate have both been in training since the win over Kilmarnock just under two weeks ago and played 60 minutes in a bounce game ahead of the crunch showdown with Livingston. The men from Leith are back in the hunt for the top six and European football next term with just two points standing between themselves and the Lions in the Premiership standings.

Providing an update on the state of play with his Hibs squad, Johnson told the Hibs official website: “Nizzy and Mykola have both been back in training for a couple of weeks and played 60 minutes in a bounce game.

“To have them back is a good force, plus the other strikers and attackers we have in the squad gives us a dangerous front-line.

“They both look really good, so no doubt they’ll be ready for the game.”

However, fans will need to wait a little longer to see Joe Newell and Jake Doyle-Hayes back in action, he continued: “Joe has had an injection so we’re waiting for a response on that; this game will come a little bit too early for him.

“Jake is in a place of frustration at the moment. Again, he’s had an injection. We’ve got to wrap around him wholistically and make sure we can get him right over a period of time.”

A few other could miss out on Saturday with a number of players facing a late call ahead of the Premiership clash, he added: “We’ve lost a couple unfortunately. We train competitively and intensely at a high tempo, and sometimes that can lead to knocks. It’ll be touch and go with some of those guys.”
