Lee Carsley praises Tino Livramento as Southampton star impresses for England U21s

Southampton's Tino Livramento earns praise on England U21 duty

Leeds United face Southampton in their first match after the international break as the Whites look to record three consecutive wins for the first time all season. One of the Saints' summer signings - teenage fullback, Tino Livramento - has impressed throughout the season and has gained international recognition with England U21s.

The manager of the Young Lions, former Everton midfielder Lee Carsley, singled out the ex-Chelsea youngster for praise following his performance in the win against Andorra this week. Livramento picked up two assists in the game and Carsley said :

"I think Tino [Livramento] has been really impressive this week. I know that he was struggling with a little bit of fitness leading into the game but he’s been outstanding this week.

"In terms of the assists, Tino [Livramento] has got excellent quality and that’s why when I pick the squad I see Tino being able to play one higher as well. I see him being able to play in that more advanced wide player position because he’s got that quality in the final third, he’s got the pace and all the attributes to play that."

The teenager had starred in Premier League Two for Chelsea alongside Lewis Bate last season and both decided their futures lay elsewhere as they left for Southampton and Leeds. Whilst Bate has had to bide his time at Elland Road, Livramento has been a regular in the Southampton team ever since his move this summer.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles set for Premier League return

One of the transfer dramas of the 2021/22 season was Ainsley Maitland-Niles being refused an exit from Arsenal to Everton during the summer window. The versatile Englishman took to social media to complain about his move being denied and he was eventually allowed to move on loan to Roma in January.

The Mirror has reported that he will seek a permanent transfer back to the Premier League in the summer and that Arsenal will accept significantly less than the £10million he would have moved to Everton for, given that he will have only a year remaining on his contract at the Emirates.

Chelsea bidders given deadline to make final offer

The shortlist of bidders in the sale of Chelsea was whittled down to four last week. It has now been reported that they have been given a deadline of the 11th April to present their final offers for the London club.

The four bidders are Boston Celtic's co-owner Stephen Pagliuca, a consortium led by LA Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly, The Ricketts family - also owners of an American sports franchise in the Chicago Cubs - and Sir Martin Broughton.
