LeBron James wins Western Conference Player of the Week award

Even though they’ve been very short-handed lately, the Los Angeles Lakers have been hot over the past week.

They are on a five-game winning streak and have won six of their last seven to draw within two games of the .500 mark.

The chief reason for this success has been LeBron James, who has raised his game, especially after turning 38 years of age on Dec. 30. In three games last week, he averaged 35 points on 54.8% shooting, 8.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game.

That production earned him the Western Conference Player of the Week award, even though he missed Wednesday’s contest against the Miami Heat.

Thomas Bryant’s stellar play also earned him some consideration for the award.

This is the 66th time James has won a Player of the Week award, which is an NBA record.
